Hello and welcome!
Fair warning – this isn’t a blog focused on one aspect of my life. It’s not a business blog, food blog, or a parenting blog. It’s all of that and then some. The pages and categories are like rooms in my brain. Be careful in there, it’s busy and probably needs some purging and reorganizing.
If we were having coffee I might share with you about my life, faith, my grandkids, home projects, crafts, my business, marriage, homeschooling, parenting – all the things that fill my life with purpose and joy.
That’s what the blog is for me.
This blog is a bit of a time capsule. I began it in 2001 in a journal I titled “Housewife Extraordinaire”. The journal was lost in 2005 in Hurricane Katrina.
I took to blogger in January 2006 after we relocated. It has served many purposes. It has been well tended at times and completely abandoned for long stretches. Life keeps coming at me and sometimes I’m just hanging on.
When I wrote the words “Housewife Extraordinaire” on the first page of my new journal it was really a bit sarcastic, self deprecating.
In the course of raising our family, homeschooling, running a business I sometimes felt like I was absolutely crushing it. Other times I thought I might run away and join the circus.
The title I chose, Housewife Extraordinaire mostly felt like a goalpost. Sometimes it felt like an accountability partner. Now my kids are grown and I love the name. Not because I did everything perfectly but rather because I strived to do everything God called me to do to the very best of my ability. It might not look impressive to others, but I know what I went through to get here and it is extraordinary. I would bet your journey is as well.
As women, as moms trying to do our best let me say this to you – You’re doing great. You don’t have to crush every single thing, every single day to get this job done. Showing up, giving all you’ve got. That’s enough.
However you found me I’m glad you’re here.
Blessings, Robin
